Journalists urged to complete survey on reporting suicide

A university is appealing for journalists to take part in a survey looking into the experience of reporting on suicide.

Researchers from the University of Strathclyde are investigating feelings associated with reporting suicide within the journalism profession.

The research is a collaboration between the School of Journalism & Communication and the School of Psychological Sciences and Health at the university.

Its survey asks such questions as whether journalists are aware of media guidelines for reporting suicides, what details about the method of suicide are included and whether information on helplines available is in included in such stories.
