Journalist swaps notebook for punchbags

A journalist is swapping her notepad for punchbags and kettlebells after starting a new career as a personal trainer.

Ruth Gammon used to work as a reporter covering fashion, IT and finance after graduating from the London College of Printing.

Deciding that the office lifestyle was not for her, the 39-year-old took part in a couple of personal fitness training sessions and decided to move into being a personal trainer herself.

“A friend of mine was doing personal fitness lessons and I decided to give them a go and it was a real wake-up call for me,”she told the Bucks Herald.

Ruth Gammon has opened a new gym in Buckinghamshire

After recently qualifying as a personal fitness coach, she has now set up a functional fitness workshop at Stewkley in Buckinghamshire.

The workshop, which includes a battling rope, gymnastic rings, a throwing wall, kettlebells and a punchbag, opened last month.
