Journalist shortlisted for Amnesty International prize

A journalist from Scottish title The Sunday Herald has been shortlisted for a prize in Amnesty International’s annual Media Awards.

David Pratt has been nominated in the Nations and Regions award for an article headlined “Where Termites have more to eat than Toddlers”.

He is up against a team from BBC Radio Stoke for a report on illegal immigration in Staffordshire and Ronke Phillips, from ITV News London for a piece entitled Witchcraft: Congo to London.

The awards aim to recognise the best UK journalism about human rights issues and take place on 11 June in London.

Three student journalists have also been shortlisted for the student award for articles in their university publications and they are Lauren Wilks from the University of Edinburgh, Clara Maciver from the University of Birmingham and Shruti Kedia from Cardiff University.
