Group editor raises charity cash with zipwire stunt

A group editor at a regional publisher took part in a daredevil zipwire flight at a football stadium to raise funds for charity.

Archant Dialogue group editor Matt Colley, who works for the publisher’s contract and customer publishing arm, was one of 57 people to launch themselves down a 150m zipwire from the top of a stand to the pitch.

In carrying out the challenge, he raised more than £300 for the Sporting Light Appeal to help disadvantaged children and those with disabilities, and the event is expected to have raised more than £5,000 in total.

Matt is also applying to the Archant Gold match-funding scheme to double his charitable cash.

Matt, right, receives his certificate from Norwich City legend Iwan Roberts.

He said: “As an avid Norwich City fan, it was a great opportunity to do something exciting while raising money for a good cause.

“As a keen sportsman, I was delighted to be able to raise money for the Sporting Light Appeal, which gives sporting opportunities to disadvantaged kids and those with disabilities. My certificate was presented by Canary legend Iwan Roberts, who is an ambassador for the charity.

“It was quite an exhilarating experience, although I didn’t quite make it to the platform at the far end, resulting in a rather uncomfortable couple of minutes while they reined me in.”

Iwan, who is a former Norwich City striker, also took part in the zipwire challenge and a video starring him and Matt can be viewed here.
