Sunday sub-editor makes switch to PR role

A journalist who has worked in local newspapers for 12 years has made the switch to work in PR.

Former sub-editor Erica Jones, left, has become a Senior Account Executive at Maxim, a PR and marketing firm in Tunbridge Wells, joining the company from Archant KoS Media, which publishes Kent on Sunday.

She started out in journalism at the Cambrian News in 2001 working for the company’s Welsh history magazine Country Quest, where she became editor, and was also trained as a newspaper sub-editor.

Erica then went on to work at the Kent Messenger Group in 2004 as a sub-editor before joining KoS Media in 2007, where she worked on a number of newspaper and magazine titles.

She said: “I’ve always respected Maxim, both as individuals and for the work they do, and so I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to work for them and adapt my journalistic skills in my new career.”

Maxim’s Philip Jones added: “Erica’s extensive media experience, enthusiasm and eye for detail make her a valuable addition to our team, helping us to offer the best possible service to our clients.”

In her spare time, Erica is a ballroom dancing enthusiast, a supporter of Invicta Dynamos, Kent’s ice hockey team, and is passionate about bookshops.

Nice to see a junior PR has written her welcome speech … “I’ve always respected Maxim etc etc ….”
Given the vitriol on these pages towards PR’s it always make me smile how many journo’s are prepared to vault the fence.

Good luck Erica, you did some excellent work with the KM and KOS, so I’m sure that will definitely be the case with your new role.
