Entries open for South West media awards

The EDF Energy South West Media Awards 2013 open for entry today with entries being accepted online for the first time.

Now in their ninth year, these free-to-enter awards also have new categories for Specialist Journalist and Digital Journalist of the Year, replacing the Environmental and Business categories.

The Specialist award is open to journalists who report on any specialist subject for regional or local publications or broadcasters, for example politics, education, crime, business, environment and health (not sport – a separate category).

Digital Journalist of the Year is an award for newspaper, broadcast or web journalists who use creative and innovative ways to reach and engage with audiences through one or more digital platforms for regional or local publications or broadcast media.

The awards, held in association with HoldtheFrontPage, aim to honour the best in journalism across the South West – Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Individual award winners receive a £100 cheque, certificate and trophy, and all those shortlisted, along with their guests, will be invited to a celebration presentation event courtesy of EDF Energy.

Only material published between 20 February 2012 and 3 March 2013 will be eligible.   The  deadline for entries is 5pm, Friday 12 April 2013.

Online entries are being accepted for the first time.  Click here to download and complete the entry form.

Completed entry forms should be sent (by 5pm, Friday 12 April 2013) to: [email protected]. Please include the three samples of your work as attached files when emailing the application. Please do not send your entries to HoldtheFrontPage.

Once again it seems Dorset is considered by the intelligentsia at EDF to be a suburb of London and the South East.
