Chief sub steps up to acting editor role

A regional daily chief sub has been seconded to become acting editor of a sister weekly.

Lisa Templeton has been appointed to run the North Devon Journal following editor Chloe Hubbard’s secondment to the Local World ‘transformation team.’

Current chief sub-editor at the Gloucestershire Echo, Lisa began her career in journalism in 1990 in South Africa .

She spent the majority of the next 16 years at The Herald, based in Port Elizabeth, covering the transformation from apartheid to the country’s first democratic elections as the paper’s local government reporter.

Said Lisa: “I am very much looking forward to this new challenge in my career with Local World. I know there is a fantastic team at the Journal and I am looking forward to working with them.

“It’s an exciting time for our print and online products, and I am thrilled to have been given this opportunity.”

Mark Sainsbury, managing director, Cornwall and Devon Media said: “I am delighted Lisa is joining the North Devon Journal. Lisa’s ideas and skills are well suited to the role and I am very much looking forward to her starting.”

Lisa will join the Journal on 13 May.
