Chief photographer takes redundancy at regional daily

A regional daily’s chief photographer is set to leave after taking voluntary redundancy in a restructure of the department.

Bob Greaves will leave his role at the Shropshire Star after publisher the Midland News Association carried out a review of its photographic operation and proposed a departmental restructure.

Bob has worked at the regional daily for a number of years, joining the title from the Reading Chronicle, where he spent 11 years.

It comes after two other photographers at the Shropshire Star took voluntary redundancy in January, after a consultation designed to cut the number of photographers from eight to six.

An MNA spokesman said: “Following a review of the photographic operation across the MNA which proposed a restructure of the department, Shropshire Star chief photographer Bob Greaves has volunteered for redundancy.

“We wish Bob every success in the future.”

The company said no other staff were leaving as a result of the restructure.
