Car found in search for missing weekly reporter

A car has been found in the search for a weekly newspaper reporter who has been missing for over a week.

Clive Dennier, left, of the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald, was reported missing when he failed to go into work last Monday morning and police launched a search for him.

But on Friday his Volkswagen Polo was found in the remote Knoydart area west of Invergarry, resulting in organised searches of the area by police, mountain rescue teams, the coastguard and the Skywatch charity.

However the Northern Constabulary said that Clive remained missing despite three days of searches in the area.

A statement from the force yesterday said: “Searches have been continuing in the remote Knoydart area for the past three days for missing reporter Clive Dennier.

“Police, coastguard, mountain rescue teams and Skywatchers have covered significant ground. Police thank everyone for their assistance. Clive remains missing at this time.”

Police have also interviewed walkers coming into and out of the area.

Clive, who is a keen walker, was reported missing when he failed to show up to work on 25 March.

The journalist had been with the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald for around two years and is a former news editor for the Highland edition of The Press and Journal.
