Archant expands digital director role to cover papers

Regional publisher Archant has expanded its London-based digital editorial director’s role to cover its newpapers as well.

Laura Adams (pictured), who previously worked as deputy editor at the Hampstead and Highgate Express and editor for the Barking and Dagenham Post, was appointed digital editorial director in November.

She now also has responsibility for Archant London’s print products, amalgamating the print editorial director’s role – vacated by Bob Crawley in May last year – into her own.

It means that Archant London’s editor-in-chief Malcolm Starbrook and group editor Geoff Martin – her old boss at the Ham & High – will now report to her.

She said: “This is an exciting yet challenging time and I look forward to working with the editorial team to cement our position as a multimedia news organisation.”

Archant London managing director Will Hattam added: “The future of our business depends on us continuing to create high quality, compelling local content, and delivering that in the most cost-effective and efficient way possible to our audiences through our digital products, as well as our traditional print products.”

So, two big promotions in the space of six months and presumably two big pay rises to go with them … for doing what exactly?

Laura is an excellent forward-thinking journo. It’s a good move for the company.
