Weekly launches retro photographic exhibition

A weekly newspaper is hosting a retro photographic exhibition showing life in Mansfield during the last 60 years.

The Mansfield Chad’s exhibition features evocative images from every aspect of life in the area since the 1960s, from sporting triumph to personal tragedy, industrial upheaval and social change.

Among the pictures from Chad photographers are the miners’ strike of 1984-85 and Mansfield Town’s Freight Rover Trophy final win at Wembley in 1987.

The exhibition will run until 11 January at Mansfield Museum.

Chad editor Phil Bramley said:  “I’d urge anyone to go and see the exhibition.

“The photos are incredible and if you’ve lived in this part of the world for any time at all, it’s your life and times that are on display.”

    Good on you Chad.
My bet is that many regional newspapers will have dumped their negatives long ago; all that priceless social history for landfill.
