A regional daily has completed an office move which has seen it return to the city centre.

Journalists at the Stoke-based Sentinel have begun work in their new base in Hanley, in the newly-named Sentinel House which is in the Cultural Quarter

The title announced in June that it was moving back to Hanley, an area where its first offices were based when it began publishing 159 years ago, from its previous offices in Festival Park in Etruria.

Now the move has been completed and more than 100 staff have moved to a Grade II listed building in Bethesda Street, which was originally a Sunday School chapel and last used as a solicitors’ office.

In a story about the move, managing director Michelle Gesell said: “Our new offices are a modern communications hub, as befitting a newspaper and digital publishing business. While we’ve lovingly restored the building to its former glory we have also ensured that it is full of 21st Century technology and unashamedly modern décor.

“This is a hugely important move for our business – one which puts us right back at the heart of the community we always seek to serve. Being in the Cultural Quarter and next to the emerging Central Business District should also make it easier for us to interact with readers, key advertisers and important contacts.”
