		<description>I doubt the current crop of snappers even come close to Johnnie&#039;s standards - he had a habiit of whirling his Niikon around his head before winging to the far side of the old Fire club in Wolverhampton. He never missed. The camera was never damaged. He was a real character, who never missed an opportunity to get the best picture. He was a gent of the old school.</description>

Johnnie was head of photographic at the Express and Star during my time as chief reporter and news editor and working with him was great fun, despite the occasional difference of opinion. His contribution to the industry, and to the Express and Star in particular, was immeasurable.</description>
