Reporter promoted to news editor at sister weekly

A senior reporter at a weekly newspaper has been promoted to become news editor at a sister title.

Alana Lewis will leave the Llanelli Star after heading its campaign to save local hospital services to become news editor at Northcliffe sister paper the Carmarthen Journal.

She began her career at Bournemouth’s Daily Echo, later becoming chief reporter at the Wiltshire Gazette and Herald, before moving to her current role in Llanelli.

Journal editor Jonathan Roberts said: “I am delighted Alana has agreed to become the Journal’s news editor.

“Alana’s considerable talent as a journalist, highlighted by her leadership of the Star’s high-profile campaign to protect local hospital services, will be of huge benefit to the newsroom and I have no doubt she will be a great success leading the team in Carmarthen.”

sounds like she’s earned her promotion so good luck to her.
But news editor? I thought they were a extinct species and content editors (who aren’t actually editors at all but dogsbodies) were new (ish) thing.
