Director leaves Trinity Mirror after 30 years

A senior figure at Trinity Mirror who was behind the creation of the publisher’s Media Scotland division has left after 30 years.

Bill Steven has left his role as business development director, with the publisher saying he will now “pursue his many varied interests outside the company”.

During his time with the group, he has mainly been based at Scottish and Universal Newspapers, which was merged with the Daily Record last December to create single business unit Media Scotland.

This led to Bill, who was previously managing director of Scottish and Universal Newspapers, being appointed as business development director for Media Scotland.

Mark Hollinshead, managing director of the Nationals Division, said: “Bill has had a long and very successful career with Trinity Mirror and he has been instrumental in the successful formation of Media Scotland and in helping to make the transition as smooth as possible for readers, customers and staff alike.

“I appreciate everything he has done to make this happen.”

Bill said: “I’ve had an amazing 30 years with the company and have worked with some of the most talented people in the industry.

“It has been a privilege and a pleasure working across Scotland with our portfolio of high quality local titles and lately the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail both in print and online.”

“The creation of Media Scotland and the tremendous hard work by everyone will most definitely present new and exciting opportunities for the future. I wish everyone all the best.”
