Design editor scoops regional publisher’s top prize

A design editor who is said to have achieved a “step change” in look and feel of a group of London newspapers and magazines has been named his company’s editorial person of the year.

Steve Bodycomb, group design editor of Archant London, received the award from chief executive Adrian Jeakings at a ceremony in London on Friday.

Judges said that Steve has transformed the design of the London newspapers and magazines, taken control of all commercial features and set up a production hub handling over 600 pages a week.

“He has made a genuine step change in the look and feel of what we offer to our readers,” the citation added.

The annual awards ceremony, held at London’s Landmark Hotel, was attended by Archant staff from all around the country.

Said Adrian: “Our award winners are the people who have delivered extraordinary results whether they work in the front line in sales and editorial or in the back office and support functions.

“They are the crème de la crème of our industry and I am proud to be able stand up here and hand out the awards.”

“The things that we have done over the past twelve months put us in a very strong position to deal with whatever comes along in the next twelve.”
