A weekly newspaper has narrowly missed out on winning a Best Business award at a green awards ceremony.

The Lincolnshire Echo was named runner-up in in the category at the Lincolnshire Environmental Awards held earlier this month, losing out to construction company Gelder Group.

The paper was shortlisted for its renewable energy news section which was launched by the title in February, to highlight and promote green activities being undertaken in the county.

Richard Duxbury, publisher at Lincolnshire Media, said: “While we were naturally very proud to be named as a ‘highly commended’ finalist, Gelder Group was a truly worthy winner of this year’s competition, along with the other inspiring entrants in their respective categories.”
