It’s a knockout newspaper team raises nearly £1,000

A team of journalists and advertising staff from a group of newspapers have raised nearly £1,000 for charity with an It’s a Knockout style contest.

The 10-strong crew from the Dewsbury Reporter, Batley and Birstall News, Mirfield Reporter and Spenborough Guardian took part in the competition to raise funds for the Hollybank Trust, which runs a school for young people and adults with complex disabilities.

The team from the newspaper tackled giant inflatables and foam-covered hazards to carry buckets of water on their heads or between their knees, donned fat-suits and generally humiliated themselves in front of the spectators.

Dewsbury Reporter editor Hannah Ridgeway said: “Thanks to our wonderful readers, friends, family and colleagues, our final total is just short of £1,000 for the Hollybank Trust in Mirfield – and, less importantly, we came a very respectable joint fifth out of the dozen teams which competed.”
