A racing journalist who is retiring this week is to have the 3.25 at Redcar named after him.
Today’s race at the North-East racetrack will be named the ‘Happy Retirement Howard Wright Selling Stakes’.
Howard has covered racing industry matters for many years and is currently assistant editor on the Racing Post.
Amy Fair, Redcar Racecourse’s general manager, said: “Howard has always been a good friend of not only our racecourse but of Britain’s racecourses generally. His reports over the years have always been highly informative and we will miss reading his stories in the Racing Post every day.”
