Local Newspaper Week, the annual campaign to raise awareness of the strengths of local newspapers, will be held during the week of 21-27 May.

In the run up to the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics it will highlight how local papers can help people tap into the celebratory mood.

The week aims to show how local papers help people to come together to enjoy celebrations by promoting or organising local events, celebrating the achievements of its readers, or helping to promote local success stories.

The event will once again coincide with the Society of Editors Regional Press Awards which will be held in London on 25 May.
