ABC figures: Newspaper websites see big increases

Almost all regional newspaper websites continues to see steady growth in user numbers during the first half of the year according to today’s ABC figures.

Trinity Mirror’s network of regional sites increased its average number of daily unique users by 53pc compared to the same period in 2010 while Newsquest sites lancashiretelegraph.co.uk and swindonadvertiser.co.uk each posted increases of more than 40pc.

However halifaxcourier.co.uk saw a 14pc fall in visitors while other sites whose user numbers declined included blackpoolgazette.co.uk and thisisgrimsby.co.uk.

    What – no pay wall!!!!!!
    If any sites are in decline they are really in serious trouble.
    Loss of readers V’s increase in unique users multiplied by revenue gains!!!!! Now that would be an interesting set of figures.
    Anyway it’s not all “doom & gloom” for the regionals.
