Scottish weekly seeks Christmas angel

A Scottish newspaper has launched a search to find its ‘Angel of the Year’ as part of its 150th anniversary celebrations.

Highlands newspaper The Oban Times, which began publication in 1861, launched its Angel of the Year achievement award launched in its latest edition.

Editorial director Stewart MacKenzie said: “The Oban Times Angel will be someone who is compassionate, caring and selfless, thinking of others instead of themselves.”

Readers will be asked to nominate the person they think should win the award along with the £500 prize. All nominations will be assessed by an independent judging panel chaired by Stewart.
