HTFP readers vote to keep press watchdog

Readers of HoldtheFrontPage have voted by a narrow margin in favour of keeping the Press Complaints Commission despite criticisms of its performance in the phone-hacking scandal.

In our latest homepage poll, we asked whether the press watchdog, branded “toothless” by Labour leader Ed Miliband, should be abolished.

The results showed 51pc of readers in favour of keeping the PCC with 44pc against. A total of 160 people took part.

Premier David Cameron has ordered a review of press regulation as part of Lord Leveson’s inquiry, casting doubt over the Commission’s future.
