The managing director of Newsquest Hampshire has been awarded an honorary degree by Southampton Solent Umiversity to recognise his “outstanding contribution to the media industry.”
Stewart Dunn, a former MD of the Southern Daily Echo, received the title Doctor of Media during a ceremony at Southampton’s Guildhall last week..
In addition to his role with the regional publisher, Stewart is chairman of the Hampshire Economic Partnership and former president of the Southampton & Fareham Chamber of Commerce.
He said: “The regional news industry is very important and I am proud of the work that the Daily Echo and Solent University have done to encourage this industry and develop local graduate job opportunities to help the local economy.”
