Trio of news editors appointed in reshuffle

Three young journalists have been appointed to news editor roles in the latest set of internal promotions at Northcliffe’s South East division.

Regional editorial director Alan Geere has chosen news editors for the Croydon Advertiser, Surrey Mirror and Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser.

The move comes after an announcement last month about four new editors being chosen to lead titles in the division.

Appointment of the four editors, who were all aged 32 or under, led to Alan inviting internal applications for news editor roles which had arisen as a result of the reshuffle.

Under the latest moves, Stuart Woledge, 35, has moved from being chief reporter at the Sevenoaks Chronicle become news editor at the Croydon Advertiser.

Jolene Hill, 29, who was his predecessor at the Advertiser, rejoins the Surrey Mirror as news editor, having previously been chief reporter there.

And Alex Morrison, 28, is the new news editor for the Dorking and Leatherhead Advertiser on a one-year maternity cover, moving from being chief reporter at the Crawley News.

Alan said: “It is testament to the strength of our editorial team across the region that we are able to bring through our own talent to these key positions.”
