Reporter videos seven-mile trek to work

Another tale of staunch defiance in the face of the snow has emerged from the regional press.

Last week we reported how staff at the Chorley and Leyland Guardian had battled the elements to arrive at the office and ensure the latest edition hit the presses.

Now reporter Nial Anderson, from the Gloucestershire-based weekly The Forester, is staking a claim to the title ‘Most Dedicated Journalist’ after trekking some or all of the seven miles from his house to the office – four times.

And the 30-year-old went the extra mile by shooting video footage along the way which was later used on the paper’s website

Nial left his home in Bishopswood on Wednesday morning and began walking to The Forester’s office in Cinderford, before hitching a lift with a passing Land Rover.

Then, in the cold darkness of Wednesday evening he trekked the entire journey home on foot – arriving there at 10pm – before doing the same journeys again on Thursday, with a little help from passing motorists.

Editor Viv Hargreaves said: “It showed remarkable dedication to the job and great commitment.”

Most dedicated, yes I agree, but couldn’t he have saved himself a lot of trouble by taking his contacts book home with him and emailing a few stories in?

I’m sure his dedication will conveniently be forgotten when his number comes up on the Redund-o-Wheel.

The Redund-O-Wheel?!
What a ridiculous bunch of dried-up old prunes (and not in a good way) you get commenting on these stories.
Well done Nial!
