Public face of newspaper to retire after 50 years

Former journalists at a Suffolk weekly are being urged to get in touch to mark their receptionist’s retirement after half a century.

Terry Mowl, formerly Fiztpatrick, is leaving the Newmarket Journal and the paper is keen to hear from any former members of staff who would like to contribute to a leaving present or a ‘memory book.’

Since joining the Journal in the 1950s, Terry has worked with at least 12 editors and countless reporters, photographers and advertising staff, as well as dealing with thousands of members of the public.

Anyone wishing to contribute a message or memory is asked to contact assistant editor Alison Hayes on [email protected] or 01638 564104 by Friday 7 May.

Terry’s last day is 13 May and a leaving do is being held on the 14 May which ex-colleagues are invited to attend.
