New blog launch for former regional press editor

Peter Sands, consultant editor with the Press Association news agency, has launched his own blog.

Thoughts and musings from the former Northern Echo editor can be found at sandsmediaservices.blogspot.com.

Peter runs the training and design consultancy with his wife Pam. He is also running a free online training seminar this Friday called ‘How to Redesign a Newspaper’.

An editor has been made an honorary felling of the University of Wales Lampeter.

Dylan Iorwerth is editor, founder and director of Golwg, a monthly Welsh language magazine.

He previously worked for the Wrexham daily The Leader and BBC Radio Cymru.


Politicians in Merseyside are blogging in the run-up to the election on the Liverpool Daily Post website.

The Trinity Mirror title has created Liverpool Party Central where members of five different local parties can write directly onto the site and interact with readers.


Chairman of the BBC Trust Sir Michael Lyons has joined Birmingham-based book publisher Tindal Street Press as its chair.

Sir Michael is a former Birmingham city councillor and chief executive of councils in Birmingham and Wolverhampton. He will start his role next month.

Three books published by Tindal Street Press have previously received Booker Prize nominations.


Liverpool FC player Jamie Carragher guest edited the club’s official magazine.

The defender was invited to be LFC Weekly’s first ever guest editor.

LFC Weekly is published by Sport Media, part of Trinity Mirror which also owns the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo.
