Staying at home to handle debt

Regular readers of the stories ideas page may remember the ‘Neets’ – those pesky young people ‘not in education, employment nor training’.

Well it seems that The Ministry of Silly Acronyms have now come up with a new one: the ‘Shids’.

Apparently, 40pc of 18 to 35-year-olds are ‘still at home and in debt’ and sitting on a debt mound in the region of £74bn.

The axing of university grants is widely regarded as one of the main contributory factors for students staying with parents while studying for their degrees……or returning home having earned the qualification and amassed anything up to £20K in personal debt.

Do you know a Shid? Or perhaps you’re a Shid yourself? Check out the Shid-state of your patch.
