Weeklies editor moves on to tackle new projects

The editor of a weeklies group has moved on after eight years in the hot seat.

Liz Griffin joined the Hereford Times and Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertisers as editor in 2001 but has now taken up a new role within parent company Newsquest.

Liz will be working directly with Gavin Steacy, Newsquest regional MD for Wales and the Midlands, on what the company called “a number of important projects” that will utilise her 25 years of experience working in the weekly press.

Liz said: “I have been lucky enough to have worked on some of the best weekly papers in the company, including the Malvern Gazette and Ledbury Reporter, the Evesham, Cotswold and Stratford-upon-Avon Journals and, since 2001, the Hereford Times and Ludlow and Tenbury Wells Advertisers.

“Now it’s time to move on, with heartfelt thanks to the many people who’ve made my times on these papers so rewarding.”

Mr Steacy said: “Liz has done a fabulous job during her tenure as editor of one of Newsquest’s flagship titles and, indeed, all the previous titles she has worked on.

“She should be extremely proud of all that she has achieved and I am looking forward to working with her over the coming months.”

The titles’ current deputy editor David Edwards is acting up in the role pending a permanent appointment.
