South West Media Awards deadline extended by week

The deadline for entries for the EDF Energy South West Media Awards is being extended by a week.

The awards, run in association with HoldtheFrontPage, cover Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

The judging is taking place on 8 April in Crawley with the awards ceremony itself taking place on 4 June at Plymouth Pavilions.

Entries were due to close at 5pm tonight but the deadline has now been extended until next Friday, 3 April to give people an extra opportunity to enter any of the 20 categories.

There have already been scores of entries for the awards from across the region but organisers hope the extra week will allow more journalists to take advantage of the more generous deadline. The entry form can be downloaded here.

The judging panel comprises Mark Waldron, editor of The News, Portsmouth, Tony Johnston, head of editorial training for the Press Assocition, Denise Eaton, editor of the Gravesend Messenger, media trainer and former TV reporter Karen Ainley, photographic agency boss Nigel Bowles and EDF Energy’s head of regional media relations Claire Byrd.

Entries for any of the 20 categories should be sent to:
