Reporter's third marathon after lifesaving surgery

A reporter who underwent brain surgery five years ago is running her second London Marathon next month.

Sharon Harris, from the Barry and District News in South Wales, will again be raising money for the Pituitary Foundation after raising £2,035 at last year’s event for the charity.

Sharon underwent neurosurgery to remove a tumour from her pituitary gland under her brain after being diagnosed with Cushings Disease in 2003.

The 38-year-old told HTFP: “Since London I’ve done three half marathons in Bristol, Cardiff and Paris and also the Berlin Marathon last September.

“I would like to crack the six-hour mark for London this year but it all depends on the conditions of the road and the weather.

“Because of the current financial situation at the moment, I don’t have a fundraising target in mind and all donations are gratefully accepted.”
