Now police join community correspondents' network

A Sussex daily is continuing its expansion of its online community correspondents by recruiting neighbourhood police officers.

The Argus already has a host regular contributors based in Brighton and the surrounding area, including ex-Daily Mirror editor Roy Greenslade, and recently recruited students from the Brighton Journalist Works training college.

Now plans are afoot to train 27 police officers and police community support officers in using theargus.co.uk/communitypages to post news, witness appeals and other relevant information.

Argus web editor Jo Wadsworth said: “A lot of officers are already writing for community newsletters and websites, so it makes perfect sense to offer them the chance to do the same for The Argus.

“I’m hoping their contributions will give this section of the site another boost, and help make it an essential font of information for Brighton and Hove’s many local neighbourhoods.”
