Johnston Press axes publishing division in shake-up

Johnston Press is reducing the number of its Midlands publishing divisions from six to five in the latest in a series of organisational shake-ups.

The existing Lincolnshire division, which publishers six weekly newspapers in the south of the county, will disappear with its titles absorbed into the neighbouring East Midlands division.

Titles affected include the Boston Standard, Sleaford Standard, Louth Leader, Horncastle News, Market Rasen Mail and Skegness Standard.

All six titles will be moved into the East Midlands division while two titles from that division, the Lynn News and the Wisbech-based Fenland Citizen, will move into the Anglia division.

It is not thought that any journalists’ jobs are at risk, but a consultation period with managerial staff affected has begun and Lincolnshire divisional managing director Paul Robins is understood to be leaving the company.

Nick Mills, managing director of the Midlands division, said he expected the consultation process to be complete by 20 February.
