Sly Bailey to address Birmingham business community

The deadline falls today for entries to an awards scheme which rewards talented young journalists from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Organised by the Asian Media & Marketing Group, the Young Journalist of the Year award, with £500 of prize money, is open to all ethnic minorities and will go to a new talent who has proven to be outstanding in print, online, radio or television journalism.

The head of Trinity Mirror – the company which owns The Birmingham Post – will be the guest speaker at Birmingham Forward’s Keynote Lunch later this month.
Sly Bailey will reflect on the role of the modern regional press at the event, which is organised by the body that represents Birmingham’s professional community.
Ms Bailey will also talk about wider issues surrounding media consumption in the digital age.


Solicitor Liz Hartley, head of the media litigation team at lawyers Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, is leaving the firm to join the in-house team at Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, Evening Standard, Metro and London Lite.


Echo editor Marc Astley will be the guest speaker at next week’s Exeter Chamber of Commerce lunch.
Marc will talk to members about how he and his team have transformed the paper from a print-focused newsroom into an award- winning multimedia operation.


Tips on how to boost companies’ relationships with the media will be shared at the next West Herts Breakfast Briefing by a local journalist.
The popular networking event will feature a presentation from Hemel Hempstead Gazette reporter Abena Bailey. Abena is The Gazette’s leisure and lifestyle editor and has worked in a senior reporting role with the paper for six years.
