Slice of media firm handed to employees in share give-away

Archant employees have received around £640,000 of shares in the company as a result of the staff Share Incentive Plan.

At the end of May, eligible employees who participated in the 2008 plan received around 80,000 shares between them, most of which were free, with around 10,000 being paid for.

Some 1,500 employees, 76 per cent of those who were eligible to participate in the offer, have been awarded a total of around 50,000 free shares.

Also, 1,200 employees bought a total of some 10,300 partnership shares at a price of £8 each. Each of these shares was then matched by Archant paying for and awarding two further matching shares.

Archant chairman Richard Jewson said: “The board is delighted that so many employees have again decided to invest their own money in acquiring shares in Archant and thereby to receive two additional matching shares, paid for by the company, for each share they have acquired.

“This, together with an allocation of free shares, provides an excellent way for eligible employees to build a stake in the business through share ownership.”
