Scottish paid-for titles to get their own revamped websites

Scottish and Universal Newspapers is rolling out companion websites for all 17 of its paid-for titles north of the border.

Parent company Trinity Mirror says the websites will focus on reader interactivity and reverse publishing into print brands.

Additional digital journalists and sales reps have been hired.

The first website to be relaunched was the Hamilton Advertiser, which saw traffic grow, attracting 20,000 unique users in the first month of operation.

Its largest-selling weekly paper, the Ayrshire Post, will be the next for a companion website launch, followed by the Paisley Daily Express.

The remaining websites will be phased in during the summer.

The digital team is under the direction of Craig Brown, recently-appointed head of digital, with John Hutcheson as online editor.
