New social network for journalists

A new networking group for journalists, creative and media professionals is being launched in Kent this week.

MeejaHub is aiming to bring media professionals in the Tunbridge Wells area together to exchange ideas, sources, industry news and gossip. It also has a companion website www.meejahub.co.uk.

It has been created by former regional press journalist Stephen Fleming and two of his friends who work in PR and web design respectively.

Stephen, who worked for the Waltham Forest Guardian and Ilford Recorder before joining the national press, said: “MeejaHub is a way to get creative talent together to help one another. It works online and, crucially, off-line too.

“Tunbridge Wells has a wealth of creative talent and media companies. The area is crying out for a group like this.

“MeejaHub will give them all a chance to meet up in an informal and relaxed way.

“Journalists could do some networking, meet local business people and get more stories out of it.”

Membership costs £10 a month and gives free entry to all MeejaHub meetings, online access to media information, support, leads and jobs.

There is also an interactive online forum and space to upload profiles and portfolios, discounts at local restaurants and preferential rates for selected local services.

The inaugural launch meeting is tonight in Tunbridge Wells.
