Journalists' Forth Bridge plunge set to raise heart money

Daredevil journalists from an East Dunbartonshire weekly are about to set out on a charity abseil to raise money for their local heart charity.

Kirkintilloch Herald reporters David Hepburn, Alistair Mackay, Caren McPate and Katy Whitelaw are set to take on a 165ft free-fall abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge.

The event, on Sunday April 27, will raise money for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland and the Herald team hope to raise more than £400.

The adventurous team has been appealing for readers to sponsor their adrenaline-pumping attempt.

Katy said: “CHSS is a great charity which does fantastic work in the west of Scotland where there is a very high rate of heart problems.

“My gran recently had a triple heart bypass and without the great work of CHSS she may not have been able to survive that.”
