Jobs threat at Johnston Press titles

Central Counties Newspapers could be seeking voluntary redundancies as part of a shake-up at its Midlands newspapers affecting 34 jobs.

The Aylesbury-based company, part of Johnston Press, has announced plans to “reorganise some of its editorial, sales and administrative duties at some of its centres”.

Staff have been informed and consultations are underway, said a company statement.

CCN publishes seven websites and 18 weekly newspapers across the Midlands including the Bucks Herald and Banbury Guardian.

Central Counties’ managing director Keith Ridley said: “These proposals have been announced as part of the company’s continual review of business efficiency.

“In the event they go ahead, we will try to minimise the impact through voluntary redundancy and redeployment to alternative positions.”
