What's in YOUR drawers?

A trawl through desk drawers at the South London Press produced some interesting finds, after a survey revealed the saucy secrets of British office workers.

Management specialists Kardex Systems claim that four per cent of staff keep kinky toys, from blow-up dolls to whips, in their drawers and filing cabinets at work. A fifth also hide away nibbles to eat while the boss isn’t looking.

SLP reporter Nick Triggle set out to discover if it was true by asking around his paper’s Streatham office.

“To our horror, it was,” he wrote.

True to the best journalistic traditions, there were lots of teabags and herbal infusions stashed away – “obviously there to keep everyone going through the long nights spent finishing the paper” – while one “particularly shameless reporter” was all too keen to pull out his collection of glamour magazines.

Advertising reps’ desks were cluttered with cuddly toys but they clearly can’t match journalists for weirdness. As Nick reported: “Sub-editor Amber Evans said the editor of her last paper kept his best friend’s ASHES in his filing cabinet.”
