Website figures soar

Page impressions for the This is North Devon website have soared to 60,000 a week – in just 12 months.

The figure is three times the total for February last year.

The Journal has had its own website for three years but it was re-launched last year.

It is a portal for north Devon and links together information including national and local news, sport, education, tourism, as well as advertising.

The site has achieved an impressive landmark by getting the highest page impression growth out of 18 sister sites.

Community publishing editor David Winter said: “We are delighted and it’s a lot to achieve in 12 months. It gives people a simple way into the internet whereas they may have been confused about it before.”

Lucy Maxwell, electronic publishing assistant, said: “When it was first established two people worked on the website. Now, we have a whole department.”

Shaun Richings, electronic publishing sales consultant, said: “The sales side of the website has gone from strength to strength and we are really pleased.

“More people are aware of it and the South West’s use of the internet is heavier than other places in the country.”
