Telegraph makes two key appointments

Two key appointments have been made at the Derby Evening Telegraph following the departure of its picture editor and sports editor.

Peter Green, (33), has been promoted to the role of sports editor, after previously working on the sports desk as a sports sub/writer.

He has worked at the Telegraph since 1996 and succeeds Dave Parkinson who is now sports editor at the Nottingham Evening Post.

It has also been announced that Jason Senior is to join the Telegraph, to take up the role of picture editor.

The 32-year-old is currently deputy picture editor of the Leicester Mercury, where he has worked for 10 years, and he will start his new job in November.

Jason succeeds Steve Mitchell, who has returned to the Nottingham Evening Post as picture editor – a post he first held in 1994.

Steve joined the Telegraph last year from the Nottingham-based sports photo agency Empics and helped turn the paper’s photographic department into a digital operation.

Telegraph deputy editor Andy Wright said: “Peter has already taken the reins and has some exciting ideas about how to take our sports pages forward.

“We are also very much looking forward to Jason coming on board in November.

“We are training our subs on the Tera system later this month, and Jason’s experience with the new system will be invaluable.”
