Star finds a home for rescued pony

Kind-hearted Shropshire Star readers stepped forward to find a new home for Shetland pony Burlington Bertie.

For the past three years, since he was rescued by an animal sanctuary, Bertie has lived with Beverley Whalley. But she contacted the Star when she realised the stallion had outgrown her small paddock and needed more grazing land and more ponies and horses for company.

After his picture and the story were used in the paper, Bertie received six offers of new homes. Beverley chose a family from Welshpool to look after him.

She said: “I know he has gone to a good home and I have the family and the Shropshire Star to thank for that.”
