A team of ‘finely-tuned’ athletes from the Bucks Free Press and South Bucks Star showed what they were made of when they took part in a major sporting event on the South Bucks calendar.
Teams from the two sister titles took part in the It’s A Knockout competition at the High Wycombe Town Show.
In the spirit of the event, the elite squads limbered up beforehand by enjoying a pint of beer.
And the training helped give the the Star team, of which editor Steve Cohen was a member, an edge which saw them scoop third place and and a medal.
Steve said: “I suppose I should add that there were only four teams taking part and the fourth-placed one was the BFP side.
“In fairness to us, all the games – such as carrying water in helmets through inflatable hurdles – were very silly. And, also in fairness, we lost to the fire and rescue service who came first.”
“I think the whole of South Bucks would have had cause to worry if the team pictured above had beaten them!”
