Sporting news teams have fun in the sun

A team of ‘finely-tuned’ athletes from the Bucks Free Press and South Bucks Star showed what they were made of when they took part in a major sporting event on the South Bucks calendar.

Teams from the two sister titles took part in the It’s A Knockout competition at the High Wycombe Town Show.

In the spirit of the event, the elite squads limbered up beforehand by enjoying a pint of beer.

  • And the training helped give the the Star team, of which editor Steve Cohen was a member, an edge which saw them scoop third place and and a medal.

Steve said: “I suppose I should add that there were only four teams taking part and the fourth-placed one was the BFP side.

“In fairness to us, all the games – such as carrying water in helmets through inflatable hurdles – were very silly. And, also in fairness, we lost to the fire and rescue service who came first.”

  • “I think the whole of South Bucks would have had cause to worry if the team pictured above had beaten them!”
