Publisher launches learning resource

Archant Suffolk has launched a new website designed as a learning resource for thousands of school pupils across Suffolk.

Eduzone, produced by the publishers of the Evening Star, Ipswich, and the East Anglian Daily Times, is an interactive website aimed at children aged from five to 14.

The site includes a history of the devastating floods in Suffolk in 1953, a section on cars since the 1930s and another about seaside holidays in Felixstowe, past and present.

Articles and pictures from the Evening Star and EADT show readers how events were reported at the time, and a selections of photos from Felixstowe beach in the 1880s give an insight into the fashions of the day – a far cry from the skimpy bikinis of today!

Produced in association with Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Education Business Partnership, the site is designed for use in various ways – including individual use, group and class teaching.

It can also be used as a resource pack for national curriculum history and geography.

The site has now been in operation for several weeks, but was launched last week by Peter Swallow, managing director of Archant Suffolk.

Evening Star editor Nigel Pickover said: “Eduzone is a brilliant resource for Suffolk’s wonderful pupils and their teachers.

“It is the culmination of lots of hard work from very many people to whom we pay tribute.

“The project has been operational for some weeks but the launch is a fantastic opportunity to give it the fanfare it deserves.”
