Peterborough Evening Telegraph editor steps down

Peterborough Evening Telegraph editor Rebecca Stephens has left the paper.

She had been at the Johnston Press daily for three-and-a-half years, joining the paper from the Basildon/Southend Evening Echo where she had been deputy editor.

During her time at Peterborough the paper won a number of awards including a Race In The Media award for local newspapers in 2006.

In a statement, Amanda Davison-Young, managing director of East Midlands Newspapers Ltd, said: “We regret that Rebecca Stephens has decided to leave the position as editor of the Evening Telegraph in order to spend more time with her young family.

“We wish her well in the future and thank her for her service.”

Rebecca has also worked in a number of senior editorial roles at The Argus in Brighton and the Gloucestershire Echo.

She began her career at the South Wales Evening Post in her home town of Swansea.

Johnston Press said an announcement regarding her successor would be made “in due course”. Do you have a story about the regional press?
