Andy Tipler, managing director of the Guardian Series, Warrington, has been promoted to managing director of Newsquest, Worcester.

His successor will be Chris Hughes, currently finance director of Newsquest Cheshire/Merseyside at Warrington.

Andy, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the regional press, will take up his new appointment at the end of the month.

He said: “Warrington is a thriving business centre and I believe it has a tremendous future. There is a great team at the Guardian and I am sure Chris will have the support that I have had.”

Chris has been finance director of Newsquest Cheshire/Merseyside since 1997, and was previously newspaper sales and distribution director with the Chester Chronicle series.

He is looking forward to the challenge of his new appointment, and to working with the Guardian team.

He said: “We have good people and strong products. I am also looking forward to getting involved with the business community in Warrington.”
