One of the longest-serving editors for the Warrington Guardian has died in a car accident, aged 88.
George Collier was chief reporter at the paper immediately after the Second World War and became editor of the Cadishead and Irlham Guardian in 1947, moving to the Sale and Altrincham Guardian in 1966, retiring in 1981.
The car crash happened near Dundee as George and his wife were returning home to Sale after a holiday. His wife Ella was unhurt.
