PA Sport has announced an investment in Australian sports Internet and information company, Sportal Australia.
The company will acquire 33.3 per cent of Sportal Australia to gain exclusive rights to commercialise and develop Sportal’s content and technical products and services outside Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. In return, Sportal will become the sales agent for PA Sport’s content and services in their home territories of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.


Guardian Media Group chief executive Carolyn McCall will join other leading newspaper executives to share their perspectives on digital opportunities for newspapers at a new World Association of Newspapers conference to be held in London in October.
Guardian Unlimited was named the world’s best newspaper on the Internet last year at the Webby Awards, and Carolyn will lead off the World Digital Publishing Conference & Expo, a new event to showcase best-practice practical ideas and winning strategies for the multi-platform newspaper.


Richard Thomson has been appointed group newspaper sales manager for Newsquest, succeeding Howard Scott, who moved to become managing director of Newsquest South London .
Richard, (32) has spent the past 11 years at Associated Newspapers in a variety of sales and management roles.
